Sometimes something unexpected happens when updating radio firmware. Like when I was stuck updating the firmware and finally bricked it, it just blanked out. Panic? Yes, because it’s my first experience bricking the radio, and it was new one, out of the box TBS Mambo.

There is also no information on the TBS website about how to troubleshooting Mambo. I have searched on forums and Youtube to no avail. Finally, I submitted ticket to TBS support.

While waiting for reply, I improvise the troubleshooting. It is known that we can fix firmware by enter the bootloader. And to enter bootloader mode, we need to press something while connecting the cable. I just give it a try and it’s just works!

After 3 days, I got reply from TBS support (I was submitting on Friday, got reply on Monday). They just give me the method how to enter bootloader mode for TBS Mambo. It is confirming also that my trial is valid. YES!

So now, I just wanted to share with you guys how to enter the TBS Mambo bootloader mode, for whatever your purpose. For TBS Mambo more or less the same as Tango 2, there are 2 bootloader modes for FreedomTX and Tracer.

Enter Bootloader Mode TBS Mambo – FreedomTX

If you experiencing problems when updating FreedomTX, flash thru bootloader mode will help you fixed the issue. Here’s how to enter bootloader mode TBS Mambo for FreedomTX.

  • TBS Agent X will detect FreedomTX in bootloader mode
  • Flash firmware via TBS Agent X
TBS Mambo - Front
TBS Mambo, look at Menu and Page button

Bootloader Mambo – Tracer

For problems when updating firmware for Tracer, or for refreshing after reinstalling FreedomTX via bootloader, the method is the same as above, only the button pressed is different. Here’s how to enter bootloader mode TBS Mambo for Tracer.

  • Open TBS Agent X. Download and install it, if you don’t have one
  • With radio turned off, hold down “MENU” button on the front of the radio while plugging in the USB cable to computer
  • TBS Agent X will detect Mambo Tracer in bootloader mode
  • Flash firmware via TBS Agent X

Okay, so that’s it, it’s really simple to enter TBS Mambo bootloader mode to solve firmware problems. So, don’t panic!

  1. do you have any idea. to solve. I put the crsf module but the module does not turn on, the module is good, I updated it in the agent via usb connection and I put the external module in the radio configuration, thanks for the update in boot mode, I couldn’t update it through agent either
